Every fall, Hindus around the world celebrate Diwali, a festival of lights. At the heart of the celebration is the lighting of lamps, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil.

At Dartmouth, this year’s celebration, which was organized by the Hindu student group Shanti, included a service at Rollins Chapel, a vegetarian feast, and the lighting of hundreds of lamps on the Green, held on one of the darkest days of the year.
