Letter from the Dean November 2019

Dear Families,

Our fall term finals period begins today. Your students are working extraordinarily hard to complete presentations and papers and to prepare for their final exams. If you hear from them that they need assistance over the next few days, please remind them to reach out to the Undergraduate Deans and the Health Service. As always, we have deans, counselors and providers on call throughout the weekend and the break period. If they need help, our staff are here to assist.

Last night, Dining Services and staff from Student Affairs and Campus Services served late-night breakfast in 53 Commons to nearly 850 students between 10 and midnight. We are grateful to our DDS colleagues for the incredible volume of pancakes, french toast and sausage they produced to keep students going. We're also grateful to Dining Services for launching the new winter break meals pilot program, which will open Courtyard Cafe for the hundreds of students who will be here during the winter break because they are working on campus, participating in break programs and activities, or are simply unable to go home between terms.

As we move into the Thanksgiving and the December holidays, we wish you and yours a joyous and rejuvenating holiday season.

With best wishes,

Kathryn Lively
Dean of the College
Professor of Sociology
