Supporting Our Students

Dear students,

As we come to the end of a difficult week, we are writing to make sure every student has the care and support they need. Our first concern is always for the well-being of our students. We know many are feeling deeply concerned, worried, and afraid because of the war in the Middle East. Some of you have family and friends in the area or other ties to the region and may have directly experienced loss or be worried about the safety of your loved ones.

We want to make sure you know how to access the resources you need both now and moving forward. This might mean counseling or pastoral counseling with the Tucker Center chaplains. It might also mean academic adjustments. We have alerted the Counseling Center, Tucker Center, and the various Deans Offices so that they can be responsive to your individual needs. Students in need of additional support, please email the appropriate contact listed below:

Our focus is on your well-being and your feeling of safety at this highly distressing time. Every member of our community has a right to their own views and to safely express them without fear of harassment or retaliation. If you have concerns for your safety or experience bias or harassment, please contact the Division of Safety and Security 24/7 at (603) 646-3333 (emergency line) or call 911. All acts of bias can be reported through the online reporting form.

We ask that you please be understanding toward and sensitive to one another. Even as you take advantage of any support you need, please be ready to help those around you who might need a hand, and be generous in giving space for different perspectives and meaningful dialogue. Our strength is in our community. Now more than ever we need to support one another.

We are all here for you.

Sincerely,

Alexis R. Abramson, dean, Thayer School of Engineering

Scott C. Brown, dean of the College

Duane A. Compton, dean, Geisel School of Medicine

Jon Kull, dean, Guarini School of Graduate and Advanced Studies

Matthew J. Slaughter, dean, Tuck School of Business

Elizabeth F. Smith, dean, Faculty of Arts and Sciences
