Family Orientation

Will your student be new to Dartmouth next year? While they will experience New Student Orientation, Family Orientation will offer you virtual sessions to learn about college processes and important resources for your student's college transition. To access these sessions, you will need to be designated by your student as a "campus communication contact" on DartHub, the student portal. Admitted students will receive information about how to do that in the spring 2026.

Approach to Family Communications

Undergraduate students designate third parties to receive select communication from Dartmouth: emergency contacts and campus communications contacts. Campus communications include the biweekly newsletter for families, messages from senior administration, and other non-emergency information. Students may update this information in the DartHub portal at any time.

We use the term “family” to include all important people in an undergraduate student’s life whom they deem to be their family—including parents, guardians, supporters, and other chosen family. Read about our guiding principles for communications with students' families.
