Eric Ramsey has served the Dartmouth undergraduate student community in various leadership roles in student affairs for over 20 years. As co-interim dean of the college, he directly manages the Division of Student Affairs units of student life and residential life.
Most recently, Eric served as associate dean for student life since 2014. He oversaw a diverse range of key student-focused programs and initiatives, including management of the Collis Center, programming for Student Involvement and New Student Orientation, the Outdoor Programs Office, the Dartmouth Center for Social Impact, and the Dartmouth Forensic Union. His responsibilities extended to Community Standards and Accountability.
In addition, Eric coordinated long-range and strategic planning for student involvement, ensuring that Dartmouth's student life programs evolve to meet the changing needs of the community. He plays an advisory role to several important student and administrative bodies, including the Dartmouth Student Government, the Student & Presidential Committee on Sexual Assault, the Dean of the College Student Advisory Board, and the Student Life Advisory Board. He was also a member of the Dean of the College's senior leadership team.
Eric also served to advance key initiatives for the Moving Dartmouth Forward program, which includes the risk reduction initiatives and the Student Organization Accountability Program. His leadership in these areas is crucial in fostering a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for all Dartmouth students.
He joined Dartmouth in 2004 in the role of advisor to the Council on Student Organizations and the first-year class.
A first-generation college student, Eric received a bachelors degree in English from the University of Arkansas, masters in education from the University of Texas, and his doctoral degree in education from the University of Vermont. He and his partner, Leo, live with their dogs Alfred and Hitchcock in Lebanon, New Hampshire.
