  • Participants will use values- personal and organizational- help inform decision making as an emerging leader. This workshop promotes reflection on ways to create a culture that is welcoming to all members and supportive of the goals and values of organizations.  Participants will discuss  "real-life" leadership dilemmas that Dartmouth students may face and have an opportunity to fine-tune practices and activities within groups.
  • Primary Audience: Student leaders of organizations

New Member Planning

  • There are member activities that are positive and contribute to the educational mission of the College. Members of Dartmouth-affiliated groups, organizations, and teams can engage in activities that positively nurture camaraderie and team building, promote the development of self-esteem, and develop unity, connectedness, and a sense of belonging without causing harm. Learn about ideas for these types of activities.
  • It is not always clear to individuals which activities may cause harm; therefore,  student leaders and members of student groups are required to consult with groups' advisors, coaches, or other College officials responsible for the program or activity in advance of a planned event.

Dartmouth Bystander Initiative (DBI)

  • DBI is a prevention strategy focusing on leadership and bystander intervention to mobilize our community to prevent violence including stalking, harassment, dating and domestic violence and sexual assault. DBI helps students, faculty and staff understand our role in preventing violence and how to take proactive steps to build a safer community. Empowering bystanders is an essential component of hazing prevention.
